One of the young men said, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who plays skillfully, a valiant man, a man of war, prudent in speech and eloquent, an attractive person; and the Lord is with him. (1 Samuel 16:18 AMP)
In order to get David to the palace to work for King Saul, while understudying the art of leadership, there were some marketable characters he possessed.
David was skillful in playing the lyre, added to it, he was valiant, a man of war, was not given to talking anyhow, and he was an attractive person. Most importantly, the Lord was with him; so he couldn’t fail.
