PERFECT CHURCH

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:4-6 KJV)

There are SEVEN mentions of “one” in the above passage. It is said that Seven is a Perfect Number. There are seven characteristics that makes the Church one!

1) One Body:

Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

No matter how many denominations there exist, everyone of us are one body in Christ Jesus. We are simply members of the body of Christ. We all need each other to survive and fulfil the expectation of heaven concerning us.

It is only when we begin to live and act as one body, that we can walk continually in victory and the gate of hell shall not prevail.

2) One Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:11   But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
The selfsame Spirit that divides to every man the diversities of gifts. Wether you are prophesying in RCCG or Anglican or Christ Embassy, it is the same Spirit that has divided the gift of prophecy.

It is the Holy Spirit who works all things in God’s perfect way. Another, can only be a work of the flesh, which can never please God.

3) One Hope

Colossians 1:27   To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Titus 1:2   In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
The Pastor in Methodist Church, the Layreader in Anglican Church, the Chorister in Living Faith Church, and every other believer looks on to the hope that we will be in heaven. That we will be raptured at Christ coming.

We all have one hope of eternal life with God. Our hope goes far beyond this earth. This is the hope of our calling, and as we look unto it, we are purified.

4) One Lord

Acts 2:36   Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Jesus is Lord! Wether you be Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Winner, Deeper Life or in Dunamis, we all have One Lord, JESUS CHRIST!

It was not the General Overseer or General Superintendent or Primate or Prelate that died for us, it is Jesus Christ. He is the Bridegroom of the Church. He is coming for a Church without spot or wrinkle.

5) One Faith

Hebrews  11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

1 John  5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our Faith

Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. Without Faith, it is impossible to please God. It is our victory that overcomes the world.

The Church lives by FAITH! From Salvation to Sanctification to our daily walk with Christ, it is all by Faith. It is the currency that every denomination that hopes to receive from God must use.

6) One Baptism

Romans 6:4   Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Wether they immersed you in a river, ocean or stream, or even simply sprinkled water on you, there is simply one thing they hope to achieve, baptism.

The significance is that we have died with Christ, leaving behind the old man called flesh, and to be now risen with Christ, walking in the Spirit.

Jesus our perfect example was baptised by immersion! Strive to do likewise.

7) One God: He is the Father of all!

John 8:41   Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

Revelation 16:7   And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

Our God Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth. He existed even from the beginning. He is the Righteous Judge, Almighty, Merciful, Wonderful and Excellent.

As you walk in the Spirit, wether as an Usher in Cherubim & Seraphim, Celestial Church, Baptist, or whichever denomination, you are a child of God. God is a Spirit!

CONCLUSION

The CHURCH is a Perfect Entity having one body, one Spirit, one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all.
If these doesn’t characterise your belief, then you are not yet a member of the Church.

Our Doctrines must  of urgency and necessity, encapsulate these seven characters. This must become our belief and creed!

John  17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

It is still the heart cry of God that the Church will come into unity. Jesus Christ strongly ever desires the unity of the body of Christ.

ADMONITION: Don’t let Denominational barriers hinder God’s Word!

The World already has more than enough denominations, rather than split to open another denomination, please do well and Remain there or join an existing one. Only the increase in the preaching of God’s Word can bring the meaningful growth and advancement of the Church.

Acts 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

The Church is Perfect because it has one body, one Spirit, called in one hope, One Lord, one faith, one baptism, and One God!

Let Brotherly Love continue!
